Congratulations to the winners of the 2011 New South Writing Contest. In poetry, the winner is Bruce Bond, for his poem "Benthos." In prose, the winner is Gregory J. Wolos, for his story "Who's Akela?" The second place winners were Maya Jewell Zeller, for her poem "Archery with Alex," and Jill Kronstadt, for her story "Palimpsests." Rodney Jones judged the poetry contest, and Karen E. Bender judged the prose contest. Our thanks to the judges, and all those who submitted work this year. New South will welcome the poet Rodney Jones to Georgia State University on Thursday, September 23rd, at 7:15pm. The reading will be held in the Troy Moore Library, which is located on the ninth floor of the General Classroom Building. Please contact new_south@langate.gsu.edu with questions. This reading is free and open to the public.

The NEW Spring/Summer 2010 issue will be out soon! Volume 3.2 features poetry by Jim Murphy, Dianne Blakely, Brian Barker, David Wagoner; fiction from Kerry Neville Bakken, Adam Braver, Eugene Cross, Amanda Rea, Christine Sneed; and nonfiction by Randy Bates. This issue also showcases three new poems by Tony Hoagland and an interview with the poet.
